Hagley Art Club owes its existence to the late Alan Pritchard, and a handful of his friends, becoming formally recognised in 1989 to be the large organisation it is now. A thriving and friendly club of around 50 enthusiastic members we welcome anyone interested in Art to join us every to join us every 2nd Monday of the month at The Community Hall in West Hagley. Whatever your interest or medium may be, whether an accomplished practitioner or an enthusiastic ‘dabbler””, there are lots of opportunities to spend time with others who share your interests.
The monthly meetings held on the 2nd Monday of the month is ?2 to members and we welcome visitors for presently ?5. We have a high calibre of demonstrators each month who come to the meeting and show the audience how they tackle their favoured subjects. Refreshments are served at half time.
We also organise a painting circle for 2 hours every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm until 4pm at Churchill Village Hall. This is an informal opportunity to get together and paint. There is a ?3 charge and refreshments are served.
Members are encouraged to enter their work in our public exhibitions during the year, including Russell””s Hall Hospital and our own Annual Exhibition at Hagley Community Centre, paintings are on sale to the general public.
We organise two workshops during the year, in a variety of mediums, and tutored by specialists. We try to keep the costs low, usually in the region ?30. We are always looking for interesting fields to explore whether it is traditional watercolour, acrylics, pastels, mixed media or even Chinese painting. This year we are introducing a monthly en plein air sketching day the last Saturday of every month though out the summer months, weather permitting. So most interests are met but if you can think of something different we will try and accommodate the idea.
