Current news from Blakedown & Hagley Tennis Club
In case you were wondering if we put our feet up during the winter, the answer is definitely NO.
There are still the usual friendly mix- in sessions each week plus regular men’s, women’s and mixed team matches in the Hereford and Worcester League. We are always being told how important it is to keep fit and enjoy the outdoors, both for our physical and mental wellbeing, especially during the winter months when the tendency is to hunker down and stay indoors.
Playing tennis is a great way to get out there and have some fun. Whether you are a seasoned player, haven’t touched a racquet for a while or a beginner you would be most welcome. If we have whetted your appetite just head over to our website: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/ BlakedownTennisClub See you on court!
Hagley Tennis Club was formed on 15 May 1980 and play started on 19 July 1980 on the Haybridge High School Courts. The first ball was played by Mrs Hammersley.
In January 1986 the Club moved from the Haybridge courts to the courts sited at the Catholic School. This included moving the famous Club Hut which was carried across the road. The Club now has improved facilities; a Club Pavilion and a secured area within the grounds of the Catholic School. It runs an annual Club Tournament and enters teams into the Hereford and Worcester and the Kidderminster Leagues.
The club runs a number of American Tournaments on Sunday afternoons 2.30 p.m. – 5.00 p.m., open to non-members (not juniors) who would like to come along and join in our very friendly club.
